Dr. Tanchanco received her Bachelor's Degree in Biology from the Ateneo de Manila University, and graduated Doctor of Medicine from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center. She underwent the residency training in Pediatrics and fellowship in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at the Philippine General Hospital, where she also obtained her Master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology. Dr. Tanchanco is an Associate Professor and appointed Director for Research and Innovation at the ASMPH. She is a consultant for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics of The Medical City. She is the co-founder and clinic director of MedMom Institute for Human Development. Dr. Tanchanco has been invited to numerous conferences locally and internationally to speak as an expert in her field.

The study will enable the set-up of laboratory facilities that will conduct FXS testing, paving the way for molecular testing of individuals with FXS and ASD in the country. Through this study, the prevalence of FXS and genetic mutations in ASD will be established.
