Technological Transfer of Clinical and Molecular Advances in Autism

This project aims to narrow the knowledge and service gap for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The project aims to continously provide capacity building opportunities for professionals throughout the country through updates in trends for autism presented at an educational conference. The project also provides training opportunities in the form of: use of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, which is a tool for diagnosing ASD; laboratory testing for FMR1 DNA testing on blood spot cards, to identify individuals with FXS who are at risk for having ASD or developing autism-like symptoms; and taking part in the International Training Program for Neurodevelopmental Disorders, which is a certificate course to provide exposure and experience to professionals in participating in the day-to-day activities and research at the UC Davis MIND Institute.
