Mapping geographical inequalities in access to drinking water and sanitation facilities in low-income and middle-income countries, 2000–17
Universal access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities is an essential human right, recognised in the Sustainable Development Goals as crucial for preventing disease and improving human wellbeing. Comprehensive, high-resolution estimates are important to inform progress towards achieving this goal. We aimed to produce high-resolution geospatial estimates of access to drinking water and sanitation facilities.

Policy Brief: Mental Health in Catarman, Northern Samar
Catarman, a first class municipality and the capital of Northern Samar, was one of the research sites of the mhPAD study. From the data collected, together with consultations with the Municipal Health Officer, policy recommendations addressing gaps in the municipality’s mental health system are given, including: integration of mental health in the primary health care services; empowerment and activation of support-structure from barangay-level officials and workers; and reduction of stigma and discrimination in the communities.

POLICY BRIEF: From Research to Impact: Transformative Actions Against Arsenic Groundwater Contamination In Batangas
On the 12th of January 2020, Taal Volcano, located in Southwest Luzon in the Philippines, erupted greatly impacting the livelihood and health of the people in Batangas Province. With majority of Batangas province relying on the groundwater aquifer surrounding Taal Volcano, one of the world’s most active volcanoes globally, for drinking water, this volcanic event followed by continuous volcanic activity throughout 2020 prompted an investigation on the quality of groundwater sources in communities surrounding the volcano.
